Q Beef Noodles
Soho, LondonChinese – Lanzhou-style hand-pulled beef noodles££

Dad's Ratings
Service
Finding properly halal Chinese food in central London used to feel like a treasure hunt. Q Beef Noodles, tucked away on Romilly Street in Soho, makes it a lot easier. It's a Lanzhou-style noodle house where the noodles are made by hand, fresh, and the halal guides I trust say all the meat served is halal, with no pork on the menu. Do note that alcohol is served.
This one was a grown-up outing: I went with my sister. The first thing that caught my eye was the salad bar by the entrance, a lovely touch that lets you add fresh bits and garnishes just how you like them. I really enjoyed that.
We ordered a proper spread, and my honest verdict on the whole meal is simple: very nice. Their famous hand-pulled beef noodles are the reason people come, and it's easy to see why. It's a cosy, compact place, so at busy times you may end up sharing a table.
On the menu (prices from a July 2026 review, so approximate):
- Beef Rib Oil Spill Noodle (signature, around £16.90)
- Sliced Beef Fried Noodles (around £13.50)
- Beef Knife-Cut Noodle
- Stewed Beef hand-pulled noodle soup
- Lamb, beef or chicken skewers (2 for £5)
- Roujiamo with beef (around £7.50)
- Wonton soup (around £6.80)
Opening hours: Mon–Thu 12:00–22:30, Fri–Sat 12:00–23:30, Sun 12:00–21:30 (official website)
Halal: Guides (Halal Friendly List, Jan 2026; Halal Food Guy, Jul 2026) say all meat is halal and there's no pork. Alcohol is served.
Bringing the kids? I went with my sister this time, not the kids, but if you're bringing little ones: noodle-slurping is half the fun, so pack a bib or spare top! Ask for chilli on the side to keep things mild, and as the space is small, call ahead (020 3518 9574) to check on high chairs and pick a quieter time.
What We Ordered
My sister and I shared a few dishes: hot and sour soup to start, spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken with rice, and of course their famous hand-pulled beef noodles. All very nice, and I made good use of the salad bar at the entrance too.
Dad's Verdict
Very nice. A cosy Soho noodle house with fresh hand-pulled beef noodles, a handy salad bar at the entrance and all-halal meat. A great central London stop for halal Chinese comfort food.
