Frangoz is a home-grown Sialkot name with several branches, but the one I keep going back to is Frangoz Cafe on Mahmood Ghaznavi Road in Cantt. It's the sit-down member of the family, serving Pakistani, Chinese and Continental food, with an afternoon hi-tea and an evening dinner service.

For me it's a reliable choice. If I want good food, or the family fancies a hi-tea, this is usually where we end up. Between the pasta, the steak and the salad, there's something on the table for each of us.

The hi-tea runs from 1pm to 5:30pm and dinner from 6:30pm to midnight, according to the official timings. There's a separate child price for the hi-tea for ages five to nine, which is handy for families like ours.

What We Ordered

Pasta for my wife and the children, steak for me, and the salad, which is amazing.

What The Children Thought

The pasta is the clear winner with the children. They love it, and so does their mum.

Dad's Verdict

A dependable family favourite for good food or hi-tea. Come for the pasta and the steak, and don't skip the salad.

Pros

  • The pasta is a hit with both the children and my wife
  • A steak I'm always happy to order, and a genuinely amazing salad
  • Hi-tea has a child price for ages five to nine (Rs 1,790 plus tax, per the official timings graphic)

Cons

  • Hi-tea is Rs 2,990 plus tax per adult, so the bill comes in above the headline price
  • Reviewers say dedicated parking at the cafe is limited, though there is parking in the nearby market
